Michael W. Caspino

Mr. Caspino is one of the Founding Partners of Brady, Vorwerck, Ryder & Caspino.  His energy and tenacity on behalf of BVRC clients has resulted in a solid reputation as an accomplished trial attorney.  He has successfully litigated throughout the states of California, Arizona, Nevada and Colorado.  Mr. Caspino has argued before the California Courts of Appeal as well as the Supreme Courts of the States of Arizona and Nevada.

Mr. Caspino holds leadership and fundraising roles for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange.  He founded and serves as President of the Orange County Canyons Legatus Chapter.  Mr. Caspino is actively involved as a parent and Board Member at Serra Catholic Elementary School, the largest parochial elementary school in America.  Additionally, Mr. Caspino serves on the Board of Directors for Casa Teresa, an organization that provides a safe living environment, health-care, counseling, and life-skills education for homeless pregnant women. 

Mr. Caspino was recently presented the Man of Character Award by the Orange County Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  Man of Character Award Committee Chairman and previous award recipient, Mr. Ralph Linzmeier, cited Mr. Caspino's charitable work in the community, specifically recognizing his commitment to Catholic education.  Past recipients of this award include, Hall of Famer Rod Carew, the Reverend Robert Schuller, Carl Karcher, Steve Young, General William Lyon, and Bishop Tod Brown.

Other interests include playing golf and coaching little league baseball.  He has completed two Ironman Triathlons and over 50 marathons. 

Professional Activities

Trial results include: Hawley v. Marriott International, wherein he obtained a defense verdict in a catastrophic injury suit venued in Las Vegas, Nevada. In Olson vs. Aztech, he successfully defended a client against construction defect claims. In Niguel Summit v. Zanderson, he obtained a defense verdict in a six month soil subsidence trial venued in Orange County, California. In Brenner v. Le Pome, he successfully defended a legal malpractice case at trial.

Published appellate opinions include the landmark case of National Union v. Nationwide Insurance Company, 69 Cal. App. 4th 709, which dealt with the extent of indemnity obligations in contracts. In Olson v. Aztech, 120 Nev. 240, Mr. Caspino argued before the Nevada Supreme Court in the first appeal that dealt with the Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 40 statutory scheme for resolving residential construction defect claims.

Mr. Caspino's litigation efforts have lead to a number of advantageous settlements on behalf of the firm's clients. In one matter, he was lead counsel in a construction dispute involving over 6,000 apartment units in Nevada and Florida. Mr. Caspino litigated and resolved multiple personal injury and property damage claims, throughout the country, related to a legionella outbreak at a Las Vegas timeshare resort.

Mr. Caspino is a frequent speaker on legal issues. Examples include speaking engagements before the American Hotel Lodging Association and as an instructor in continuing legal education courses on ethics and insurance coverage.

Recently, Mr. Caspino was quoted in The Wall Street Journal, wherein he commented on legal liability relating to automated external defibrillators.
